Post Malone's presence on the 2024 Stagecoach Country Music Festival lineup, where it was announced he would perform a series of country covers, may have seemed strange at first glance. But he actually fits well with the musical and Texas native Renaissance man.
The rapper, singer-songwriter and producer is almost a Kevin Bacon-esque figure in modern music. He recently appeared as a guest on Beyoncé's “Cowboy Carter” and Taylor Swift's “The Tortured Poets Department,” and joined his Stagecoach 2024 bandmates Morgan Wallen and Hardy at the CMA Awards in November for a country medley.
And since Malone seems to know everyone, it made sense that his Stagecoach set would have some star power on Saturday night.
Dwight Yoakam (and his incredible flying white fringe denim jacket that he wore during his set on Friday) was the first to join Malone for “Little Ways” at the beginning of the set. Two songs later, former Stagecoach frontman Brad Paisley was on stage to duet on their hit “I'm Gonna Miss Her” and stayed on stage for the pair to cover “One More Last Chance” by Vince Gill.
Sara Evans later joined Malone, her long brown hair blowing in the Indian wind, for his hit “Suds in the Bucket.”
Paisley returned to playing guitar for the last song of the set, a jaunty version of the Alan Jackson classic “Chattahoochee.”
However, despite the rumors and the plane flying the “Cowboy Carter” banner around the polo fields that same night, Beyoncé did not take the stage.
