“I'll be wearing these exclusive sneakers signed by Donald Trump,” says the Philadelphia-based businessman.
A Philadelphia-based Russian businessman has won a pair of Donald Trump's new autographed gold sneakers after placing a major bid a day after the former US president announced their launch on Saturday, Reuters news agency reported. New York Post reported.
Roman Sharf, owner and CEO of luxury watch distributor Luxury Bazaar, walked away with a pair of Trump's autographed “Never Surrender” high-tops on Sunday after placing a winning bid of $9,000 at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia.
Trump announced the launch of his new shoe line during a surprise appearance at the event on Saturday, a day after a New York judge ordered him to pay $355 million for allegedly inflating his net worth to deceive banks and insurers.
A video shared on social media shows Sharf smiling and talking to the crowd as he shows off the gold sneakers after outbidding other buyers.
The shoes, which feature an American flag detail on the back, cost $399 and are limited to just 1,000 pairs. The sneakers reportedly sold out less than two hours after launching.
“We'll have a winning celebration in November and I'll be wearing these exclusive sneakers signed by Donald Trump,” Sharf said after winning, according to times now world.
She later shared on social media that she plans to eventually pass the shoes on to her children.
“But for now I'll display it in the office,” he wrote on X.
Sharf is “one of the largest gray market watch traders in the world” and trades luxury watches without brand authorization.
His company employs 30 people and generates $130 million in annual sales, according to WatchPro.
Trump was greeted with loud boos and applause from the crowd when he unveiled the shoe line on Saturday.
“I've wanted to do this for a long time,” he told the crowd. “I have amazing people working with me on things, and they came up with this, and it's something I've been talking about for 12 years, 13 years. I think it's going to be a huge success.”
