- Aamir Mughal 'arrested' outside his DC office.
- The party says it visited the DC office to seek the NOC for the PTI rally.
- PTI lawyer Asim Baig confirms his arrest.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Islamabad Chairman Aamir Mughal has been arrested, the party said in a social media post on Thursday.
The PTI claimed that Mughal was arrested outside the office of the deputy commissioner in the federal capital. PTI lawyer Asim Baig also confirmed the news of his arrest.
According to PTI, Aamir Mughal had gone to the Islamabad DC office to seek the no-objection certificate for the party's rally in the city on July 6.
Mughal was earlier arrested on May 23, during a raid conducted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) along with the police at the PTI Central Secretariat.
The CDA had demolished a portion of the PTI office for “violation of building rules”, prompting strong condemnation from Imran Khan's party.
During this process, PTI activists resisted government attempts to demolish the office, leading to the arrest of some party workers by the capital police.
After the operation was over, the CDA officials sealed the PTI headquarters and pasted the order there as well.
