After performances by intergenerational bands and folk-rock legends, the newest resident of Las Vegas' Sphere will be a little louder and nastier than usual.
Metallica has scheduled their debut residency “Life Burns Faster” at the mind-blowing audiovisual monolith for October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31. Tickets go on sale March 6.
“About 12 seconds into Sphere's opening night with U2 back in '23, I thought, 'We have to do this, it's completely uncharted territory!'” said Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich in a typically enthusiastic statement. “This residency gives us another opportunity to reinvent the way we interact with our fans live. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months and very excited to go to the next level!”
The band will continue the “No Repeat Weekends” theme, playing completely different set lists on Thursdays and Saturdays from their recent M72 Stadium Tour. The group recently reissued their seminal, if divisive, 1996 album, “Load,” in a gigantic box set last year.
Meanwhile, Sphere has upcoming residencies from Kenny Chesney starting in June, Backstreet Boys in July and Carin León in September.
