Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “happy to be part of making a difference” when it comes to royal parenting.
In an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning interview, Meghan opened up about raising her and Harry's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“All we want to do as parents is protect them. So as we can see what is happening in the online space, we know there is a lot of work to be done there and we are happy to be able to be a part of a change for the better,” she said.
However, psychotherapist Gin Lalli said the comments make Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, look like a victim.
She told the Express: “It's an interesting dynamic, which could be interpreted as a continuation of her portrayal as a victim in the public eye.”
“This approach could be seen as an attempt to gain public sympathy by highlighting one's own adversities. This is typical victimhood. It can divert attention from the bigger picture,” he continued.
“A victim's narrative tends to highlight their individual struggles, reinforcing a perception of perpetual victimhood,” she explained.
“This could be perceived as a strategic move to attract emotional support and reinforce a public image of someone who has gone through significant personal challenges,” he added.
Concluding his remarks, Gin said: “This is fair, but it is tiring in the eyes of the public.”
