Matthew McConaughey's mother had to learn to keep the information for herself

For years, Matthew McConaughey did not tell his mother, Kay, no substance during his weekly phone calls: his love for spreading news had cost him his trust.

“We had approximately an eight -year period in which I had to have short conversations with her in our telephone calls on Sunday because I was sharing a lot of information,” Matthew told People in a joint interview with his mother. “I would say something on Sunday between son and mother, and on Tuesday I read it in the news or see him in the local newspaper.”

Kay called the period a pause, which began after she made the media on a tour of Matthew's childhood house without her consent. In her defense, she did not believe he found out.

“I was so proud to be telling the world,” he said.

The parenthesis came to an end when Matthew felt stable enough with his fame. When the two arrived at the red carpets after that, Kay asked if there was any rule she had to follow, but he let her tell the most daring stories at will.

“My mother can say what you want,” Matthew said. “Let's remove the loop and simply do it, mom.”

Matthew and Kay co -starring the next movie “The Lost Bus”, where she plays her mother. The film, which opens on Friday at Apple TV+, is also starring Matthew's eldest son, Levi.

Listen to the sound of the fingers crossing? That could be Levi waiting for his father to learn one or two things from the grandmother.
