Matriculation exams postponed in Karachi due to public holiday

KARACHI: Provincial authorities have once again postponed the Karachi matriculation exams scheduled for Tuesday as the country will celebrate a national holiday tomorrow due to Youm-e-Takbeer.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced a Youm-e-Takbeer holiday to commemorate the historic day when Pakistan successfully carried out nuclear tests in the Chaghai Hills in 1998.

Later, Sindh Colleges and Boards Minister Mohammad Ali Malkani announced that class IX and X papers will not be held in the metropolis tomorrow (Tuesday) due to the holiday.

He said a new date for tomorrow's papers would be announced later.

It may be noted that the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) had announced a new schedule for the matric exams, which had been postponed for almost a week due to extremely hot weather.

Meanwhile, the University of Karachi also announced a holiday tomorrow according to the official announcement. The exams to be held tomorrow in the varsity have been postponed.

In a statement released on the same day, Prime Minister Shehbaz said Youm-e-Takbeer reminded the Pakistani nation of unity to make the country's defense invincible.

On that day, the Prime Minister said, the entire nation had decided for the integrity of this country that no compromise would be made in the defense of the country by accepting any kind of external pressure.

“The Youm-e-Takbeer reminds the political and defense forces to unite under one flag, the green crescent flag, to strengthen the defense of this country,” he added.
