RAWALPINDI: A soldier embraced martyrdom and nine terrorists were killed by security forces in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday, as the country continues its fight against terrorism.
In a statement, the army's media affairs wing said security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tank district. During the IBO, two terrorists were killed including a high value target (HVT) Rehmat Ullah alias Badar Mansur.
“In another operation carried out in South Waziristan district, after an intense exchange of fire, seven terrorists were sent to hell.”
The ISPR further said that arms, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the slain terrorists.
The slain militants are still actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against security forces, as well as extortion and targeted killings of innocent civilians, he added.
However, during the operation, 29-year-old Sepoy Shahzeb Aslam, having fought bravely, embraced martyrdom.
“Pakistan security forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism in the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR added.
