Laurence Fishburne skips drama 'Megalopolis' over politics

Hollywood was recently in an uproar after the trailer for Megalopolis used fake quotes from critics. Amid the controversy, its star Laurence Fishburne was busy with something else.

It turned out to be politics as such. The matrix The star revealed that she was watching the Democratic National Convention when the drama involving her film occurred.

Talking with The Hollywood Reporter, he John Wick The star said: “I’m here in London and someone told me about it, but I was busy watching the Democratic National Convention.”

She also said: “I thought, 'I need to focus on this. I can't be bothered with whatever it is.' So I don't know exactly what it is.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Laurence admitted that the trailer failed to get the message across: “Yeah, it's weird.”

On the other hand, Megalopolis Director Francis Ford Coppola acknowledged that the film starred controversial actors, including Jon Voight and Shia LeBeouf.

“What I didn’t want to happen is for us to be seen as some sort of progressive Hollywood production that just lectures viewers,” he told Rolling Stone. “The cast includes people who were cancelled at one point or another.”

“There were people who were ultra-conservative and others who were extremely politically progressive. But we were all working together on a film. I found that interesting.”
