Dwayne Johnson wrote a heartfelt note for his late father, wrestler Rocky 'Soulman' Johnson
Dwayne Johnson penned a heartfelt note for his father Rocky “Soulman” Johnson in honor of Black History Month.
The former WWE icon, who will revive his role as Maui in moana sequel, shared a memory video of his fighter father with My old man by Zac Brown playing in the background.
Speaking about his late father, who passed away in 2020 at age 75, Dwayne wrote: “Just handing flowers to heaven to my father, Rocky 'Soulman' Johnson.”
“My father, along with 'Mr USA' Tony Atlas, made professional wrestling history by becoming the first black @wwe Heavyweight Tag Team Champions,” he listed Rocky's accomplishments.
Dwayne added: “He came the hard way and was a trailblazer for all of us men of color in any sport and level of entertainment. But it was also very important to him to pave the way for all men, of any color, it didn't matter.”
However, he regrets not having been by his father's side while he was on his deathbed.
“My regret in this life is that I never had the opportunity to say goodbye to him, because he died suddenly. I'm sorry we didn't reconcile our complicated father-son shit before we lost him. “He raised me with tough fatherly love and an even tougher hand,” he continued.
