Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughter Violet give a powerful speech about Covid19

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughter, Violet Affleck, is making her mark in politics already after her high school graduation.

Violet spoke for about a minute about civic awareness at a Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday during a discussion about COVID-19 precautionary measures.

Violet, 18, shared her own struggles with post-viral symptoms, which the National Library of Medicine says include “persistent pain, fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, neurocognitive difficulties, and sleep disturbances.”

“In 2019, I contracted a post-viral illness,” Violet revealed. “I'm fine now, but I saw firsthand that medicine doesn't always have answers for the consequences of even minor viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought that to light.”

He did not reveal details but described it as a “devastating” effect of long COVID.

“One in ten infections leads to long COVID, which is a devastating neurological disease. [and] “Cardiovascular disease can take away people’s ability to work, move, see and even think,” he said.

“They don’t make us safer, they make vulnerable members of our community less safe, and they make everyone less able to participate together in Los Angeles,” he said.

He also called for expanding access to free COVID testing and medications, increasing the availability of masks in jails and detention centers, and imposing mask mandates in county medical facilities.

Violet also called on the county not to impose a mask ban “for any reason,” while countering Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass's earlier proposal to ban masks at protests.

Days after Bass made her anti-mask comments, her office announced she had contracted COVID-19 and would attend meetings remotely.

It is worth mentioning that at least 420 deaths have been reported in Los Angeles County so far in 2024, due to the rise of the virus.
