Space and Time Releases ZK Subsecond Tester Under Open Software License by Chainwire

SQL testing is much faster than zkVM and state-of-the-art coprocessors.

Space and Time (SxT), the verifiable computing layer for AI x Blockchain, today released Proof of SQL, a high-performance zero-knowledge prover for processing data, on GitHub.

The SQL test is a novel ZK test developed by SxT, which cryptographically guarantees that SQL database queries were accurately computed with unmanipulated data. By using Proof of SQL, developers can compute data sets both on- and off-chain reliably, demonstrating the result on their smart contract just in time during a transaction to power more sophisticated DeFi protocols with smart contracts based in data.

SQL testing was released in alpha to a select group of SxT customers in August. With today's release on GitHub, the protocol is now available to the public. Community members can run trustless queries on SxT in Space and Time Studio, and developers can download the repository directly from GitHub.

The SQL test is the first ZK tester that runs in less than a second. In the latest benchmarks by the SxT crypto team, the protocol can run analytical queries on 100,000-row tables in less than a second on a single GPU and can aggregate millions of rows of indexed data within block time on a single NVIDIA (Nasdaq:) T4.

Proof of SQL offers an architecture with significantly higher performance for processing large volumes of data than zkVM and generalized coprocessors. While generalized zkVMs offer an extensible solution for arbitrary computations, data processing takes time to be demonstrated.

SQL testing can be integrated with these zkVMs to provide verifiable source data upon which arbitrary code can be executed. Space and Time encourages and invites community contributions, as well as other ZKP engineering teams, to collaborate on the repository. The tester can be integrated into any SQL database (such as Google (NASDAQ:) BigQuery), centralized or decentralized, and already protects some of the most prominent Web3 applications, financial institutions, and companies.
