Shardeum collaborates with leading bug bounty platform web3 to test the network before mainnet launch, offering a total of $700,000 USD in rewards
Shardeum, the auto-scaling layer-1 blockchain, announces a partnership with Immunefi, the leading security services and bug bounty platform for Web3, to facilitate Shardeum’s first bug bounty prior to the launch of its mainnet. The bug bounty will be used to further detect critical issues and bugs within the network and will act as an important step towards ensuring robust security before the Shardeum mainnet goes live.
While Shardeum has conducted several internal security audits with third-party vendors, this is Shardeum’s first bug bounty program where individuals can attempt to “crack the system” through ethical hacking to detect bugs and vulnerabilities. If participants can provide a suitable proof of concept and demonstrate that they can reproduce, they receive rewards for their participation in the program. Shardeum is partnering with Immunefi to facilitate this program and enable seamless recruitment and participation of developers from around the world.
“We are excited to take this step with Immunefi as our trusted partner. Shardeum has made great strides in 2024 and mainnet is on the horizon. As always, we value community involvement above all else, and the bug bounty is another way to engage the community in one of the most important steps to securing the network,” said Chris Chabot, VP of Developer Relations at Shardeum.
For this specific bug bounty program, Shardeum will offer two “boosts” or increased rewards for the efforts of participants. The boosts will take place from July 5 to August 16, 2024 and are divided into two categories:
- The “Core” boost will provide a total reward of $500,000 USD – the breakdown can be seen here.
- The “Auxiliary” boost will provide a total reward of $200,000 USD; the breakdown can be seen here.
“Immunefi’s core mission is to ensure that every blockchain has the opportunity to bolster its security to the highest level, protecting its community from any potential threats. We were delighted to partner with Shardeum, allowing them to take appropriate security measures prior to the launch of their mainnet while also encouraging their community members to participate in one of the most important steps in the lifespan of a blockchain ecosystem,” says Immunefi Founder and CEO Mitchell Amador.
Shardeum recently announced the launch of Stage 1 of its incentivized testnet, Atomium, which allows community members to also participate in testing the network’s vulnerabilities. In Stage 1, Shardeum attracted over 483,000 unique participants, demonstrating significant community engagement, which will only increase. Stage 2 will be launched very soon.

About Shardeum
Shardeum Shardeum is an EVM-based layer-1 blockchain with auto-scaling. Dynamic state sharding helps keep gas fees low and TPS high as participation increases. Shardeum performs transaction-level consensus and reduces the computational power needed for validating nodes. This consensus mechanism allows anyone to run a node while increasing decentralization.
