Princess Anne is at home after being hospitalized for an 'incident' with a horse

Britain's Princess Anne is recovering.

Princess Anne, 73, the only child of Queen Elizabeth II and younger sister of King Charles III, returned to her home in southwest England on Friday, the Associated Press reported. She is expected to make a full recovery days after being hospitalized for a concussion.

Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence thanked the medical team who treated his wife in a statement shared with several media outlets on Friday.

“I would like to extend my warmest thanks to the entire team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife's short stay,” he said.

Buckingham Palace announced in a statement Monday that Anne, known as the Princess Royal, “sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident” at her Gatcombe Park estate in southwest England. She was hospitalized “as a precautionary measure for observation,” the palace said.

The palace did not release details about Anne's “incident,” although she was reported to be walking within the protected perimeter of her Gloucestershire estate when it happened, according to the British Press Association. Emergency services were called to Anne's property, where she received treatment before being taken to hospital, accompanied by her husband.

Details about the incident remain under wraps, but doctors said Friday that Anne's injuries were consistent with an impact from the head or legs of a horse, the AP said.

Times staff writer Nardine Saad contributed to this report.
