Indian defence analyst blames US, China and Pakistan for Sheikh Hasina's ouster

Hardline Indian defence analysts inexplicably blame the ouster of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following widespread student protests on foreign interference.

Indian Major General (retd) Gagan Deep Bakshi did not hold back in accusing the US, China and Pakistan of orchestrating Hasina's removal from power during an appearance on an Indian television channel.

The 74-year-old Indian official said: “It is not such an innocent and clear-cut case. Hasina Wajid had spoken about threats she received from the US and China.”

He added: “The US wanted to seize the islands of Bangladesh, while China wanted its submarines to dock in Bangladeshi waters. China used Pakistan's ISI agents who were connected to the Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh.”

In her tirade, Bakhshi did not spare Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel laureate who agreed to join the Bangladesh interim group as a senior adviser, calling him a US favourite.

Moreover, Indian TV host Arnab Goswami confidently blamed the US deep state for being involved in the ouster of Hasina, the “democratically elected” prime minister of Bangladesh.

He accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of seeking regime change in India like that in Bangladesh.

Goswami argued that when Gandhi asked the US to take stock of democracy in India, he was actually seeking US help in inducing change in that country.

He said: “When Rahul Gandhi goes to London and says that Americans must save Indian democracy, this (referring to the riots in Bangladesh) is the intervention he is probably talking about because when Western countries intervene in the democracy of any country, this is what happens.”

He BBC The British newspaper described the collapse of Hasina's government as a blow to India. The British media outlet said that India's undue support to Hasina and interference in the country led to the overthrow of Hasina's government.
