Washington – The questions about the plans of former Vice President Kamala Harris have revolved since he lost his presidential offer in 2024, especially if the former Senator and Attorney General of California would run for governor next year. Now, part of the image has been completed with the announcement of her husband's new work.
The former Second Knight Doug Emhoff joins the Black Sneakers of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, and plans to divide his time between Los Angeles and New York, the firm announced on Monday.
“I am delighted to join Willkie, where I am anxious to work along with legal and innovative advisors,” Emhoff said in the company's statement. “I couldn't be more excited to join this talented and collaborative team.”
The former lawyer of entertainment properties, media and intellectual of Los Angeles, 60, will be a partner of the firm and will advise corporations, entities and people in the midst of crisis or who are occupied with a changing legal land.
“Doug's leadership and his service as a trusted counselor for many global business leaders in a wide range of industries, as well as his extensive legal experience and commercial insight, make him a tremendous asset,” said firm's president Thomas Carabino in the statement. “We are delighted to add Doug to Willkie's association during this growth period of the transformational company.”
Founded in 1888, the company has 1,200 employees in 15 offices in six countries. The approach of the approximately 100 lawyers in their Los Angeles office includes entertainment and media industries, as well as heritage planning for rich Hollywood figures, athletes and corporate leaders.
The announcement that Emhoff will spend part of his time in New York is remarkable due to the rumors that Harris and her husband had been looking to move there.
Harris, also 60 years old, met Emhoff in a blind event. The couple married in 2014.
She ran unsuccessfully for president in 2019, became Joe Biden's formula partner and was chosen vice president in 2020 and then unexpectedly became the 2024 Democratic candidate after Biden decided not to seek re -election in the middle of the Growing democratic concerns about its resistance and condition arose last summer.
Since Harris lost to President Trump in November, there have been persistent questions about his next movement: would he seek to lead the largest state in the nation in 2026 or maybe mounting another career for president in 2028?
Emhoff's movement finally does not answer the question. While the governor field is full, it faces less pressure to jump in the short term given how well known among democratic voters of the State and their fundraising skill. And Emhoff could go back to her legal work if she decides to run, as she did once Harris became the fellow of Biden formula.
Harris, meanwhile, had some farewell advice for followers while admitting the elections in November: “Do not despair.”
