Ahead of sentencing in July following conviction in hush money case, former US President Donald Trump will waive a mandatory interview with his probation officer on Monday, according to The hill report.

The interview was carried out under the law routine that will help Judge Juan Merchán decide the sentence of the 77-year-old criminal convicted on July 11.

The sentencing date was set just days before the Republican National Convention formally announced Donald Trump as the party's presidential nominee.

The outlet, citing sources, reported that the virtual interview was uneventful and lasted less than thirty minutes from their Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

“The president and his team will continue to fight the Manhattan DA's illegal witch hunt, along with the other deceptions led by corrupt Joe Biden,” the report added.

He further revealed that New York City Probation Department Commissioner Juanita Holmes was present at the virtual meeting, along with the department's attorney and the official designated for Trump's case.

According cnnThe former president's lawyer, Todd Blanche, was also present.

At such meetings, defendants are asked about their convictions and some related information; however, they are not required to cooperate.

However, choosing not to participate could send negative signals to Judge Merchán, who could sentence according to his discretion.
