Donald Trump, former president of the United States, is considering offering technology billionaire Elon Musk an advisory position in the White House if he is re-elected as president this fall, according to the Reuters agency. Wall Street Journal reported.
Musk, 52, has been outspoken about border security and economic policies on his X social media platform.
According to the report, Musk's relationship with Trump, 77, has strengthened as the two speak regularly on the phone.
The report, which cited people familiar with the conversations, also said that both influencers have discussed a role that would allow Tesla's CEO to formally provide information and influence over border security and economic policies.
According to the Diary, Some of his sources indicated that Musk and billionaire investor Nelson Peltz have discussed efforts to prevent voter fraud under Trump and persuade elites not to support President Biden's re-election campaign.
Musk has been an outspoken critic of liberal policies, citing what he calls the “woke mind virus.”
He has been particularly critical of the Biden administration's handling of border security as record numbers of people entered the United States illegally across the southern border in recent years.
Musk's possible involvement as an advisor in a possible Trump-led White House could further complicate his leadership role in companies he founded or owns, such as Tesla, SpaceX, X and xAI.
His role as Tesla CEO is under scrutiny, and shareholders will vote next month on reinstating his $56 billion pay package, which was overturned by a Delaware judge in January.
