US President Joe Biden has congratulated newly elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his party's landslide election victory.
According to a White House statement, the two leaders discussed cooperation on the Ukraine conflict along with other mutual issues.
The two leaders also agreed to work together in support of democracy and freedom around the world. All these issues were discussed during a phone call on Friday (July 5).
On the other hand, Russia, after the Labour Party came to power, responded that Britain would remain an enemy of any country. The Labour Party shows no desire to improve relations with Russia.
“As we can see from their previous statements, they are not inclined to any flexibility or creativity in normalizing Russian-British bilateral relations,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“Instead, they intend to continue the line of denying the future of our bilateral relations,” Peskov said.
Starmer, after taking control of the prime minister's office, formed a cabinet and appointed women to many senior positions.
British-Pakistani Shabana Mahmood has been appointed as Justice Minister and Rachel Reeves is the first woman to be appointed Finance Minister.
