United Airlines will launch a second daily Los Angeles-Hong Kong flight on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft beginning October 26, complementing its existing two daily flights to Hong Kong from San Francisco.
Additionally, the Star Alliance member will add four weekly flights between Los Angeles and Shanghai starting August 29, and will upgrade the route to daily service from the end of October.
Flights to Shanghai will also be operated by United's three-class 787-9 aircraft, with 48 seats in 1-2-1 configuration in Polaris business class, 21 in premium economy 2-3-2 and 188 in economy class 3- 3-3. .
This service complements United's daily service between San Francisco-Shanghai and San Francisco-Beijing and is the result of an updated agreement between the governments of the United States and China to increase flights between the two countries.
United says it now has the largest and most diversified international route network among U.S. airlines, offering nonstop service to 134 international destinations in 67 countries and offering flights to more destinations across the Atlantic and Pacific than all U.S. airlines combined.
