There are times when you want a vacation that challenges you. But there are other times when you long for a family scene, the reconforting food version of a traveler.
What leads people to the same destination again and again?
Charlotte Russell, clinical psychologist and founder/editor based in Manchester of the blog of travel psychologists, did not see courage to visit the same place twice when he was 20 years old, but as he grew up, his opinion changed.
Now, one of its most frequent destinations is Seville, a short and direct flight from its local airport. However, its travel cadence is strategic. “I don't want to spoil the connection I have with the place visiting too often,” she says. “For me, once every few years it seems to be” correct. “Once there, savor” the beautiful buildings, oranges, smells and flavors of food, “enjoying the opportunity to know the culture more deeply than a unique visitor.
On the other hand, Russell recognizes, maybe we can never really visit the same place twice.
This is what Psychology professor Andrew Stevenson says in his 2023 book “The Psychology of Travel”. In his opinion, “the places change all the time, and we too. Yes, we can visit the same location again, but we are likely to experience it in a completely different way when I visit again, as the place becomes more significant, more full of memories, more vital, every time we arrive.”
We ask the readers of southern California to tell us about their most precious repeated destinations. The answers brought us all: Hawaii, Utah, Arizona, England and beautiful Beach, for example, for all kinds of reasons that share with us below.
