Qatar Airways outlines plans for new Qsuite and first class cabins – Business Traveler

Qatar Airways will introduce new first class cabins and a redesigned Qsuite business class product in the coming months.

The CEO of the airline group, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer – who replaced veteran Akbar Al Baker in November last year – gave an interview to CNBC, the details of which have also been shared with other media by the airline's press office.

Al-Meer confirmed that Qatar Airways is close to finalizing designs for new first class cabins, which will be introduced “across part of its fleet.”

The news differs from previous statements by Al Baker, who questioned the future of the airline's first class, which is currently only available on a handful of the airline's A380 aircraft.

“Based on demand from certain sectors, we see strong demand for First Class and as such, we have decided to introduce a newly designed First Class cabin exclusive to Qatar Airways,” Al-Meer said.

“No one can develop a First Class cabin better than us; We are combining the experience of flying commercial and executive aircraft to develop something new. We are 70 to 80 percent ready and are just finalizing the colors. We hope to announce it soon.”

Al-Meer also said a redesigned business class Qsuite product would be unveiled at this year's Farnborough International Airshow in July.

The current suite was released in 2017 and has been revised several times by business travelermost recently in December 2022.
