Qatar Airways is the first leading airline in MENA to introduce free Starlink Wi-Fi on board

Qatar Airways has announced the introduction of Starlink's innovative high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi on three of its Boeing 777-300 aircraft for the final quarter of this year. This marks the initial phase of its implementation strategy, which aims to improve the passenger experience on board. The airline plans to progressively extend SpaceX-powered technology to its entire modern fleet over the next two years. The announcement was made at the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg, Germany, in the presence of Qatar Airways Group CEO, Eng. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer and Mr. Mike Nicolls, Vice President of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX.

Known for its leadership in innovation, Qatar Airways constantly integrates advanced technologies to redefine the inflight experience. New ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, delivering up to 500 megabits per second per aircraft, allows passengers to enjoy high-speed, low-latency Internet with simple “one-click access.” This enables a variety of Internet-based services, including video streaming, online gaming, rich web browsing and more, significantly improving the travel experience.

Badr Mohammed Al-Meer highlighted that the collaboration with Starlink reflects Qatar Airways' customer-first mentality and its commitment to exceeding passenger expectations. As the first airline in the MENA region to offer this service, this initiative marks a major milestone for Qatar's national airline, promising an unparalleled inflight experience. SpaceX's Mike Nicolls emphasized the transformative potential of high-speed, low-latency Internet in aviation, expressing enthusiasm for the partnership and its benefits for Qatar Airways passengers. Starlink, the world's largest satellite internet constellation, is set to revolutionize in-flight connectivity globally.
