New design and music-inspired hotel planned for Glasgow’s Clydeside – Business Traveler

Plans for a new “music lovers hotel” on Glasgow’s Clydeside have been revealed.

SWG3 has partnered with architecture firm Stallan-Brand to submit plans for a 142-room hotel on the corner of Eastvale Place and Sandyford Street. near independent arts venue.

If approved, the property will feature a total of four restaurants and bars, as well as a co-working space, a gym, a movement studio and a rooftop terrace.

SWG3 said the hotel would cater for both its own events program and that of the nearby SEC, providing “something distinctive and unique for the city with a focus on design and music”.

Glasgow’s hospitality sector has been in the news in recent weeks, with the sudden closure of Virgin Hotels Glasgow just four months after the property on the banks of the River Clyde opened.

Commenting on the news, Paul Stallan, design director at Stallan-Brand, said:

“While the SWG3 hotel is strategically situated to support the immediate regeneration initiative, the hotel will also contribute to the continued success of Glasgow’s ‘Hydro Effect’, which has made the city a global magnet for major music events and conferences.

“As a ‘hotel for music lovers’, the SWG3 team is excited to expand their program with a new leisure offering that will ensure they remain more visible, vital and circular.”
