Lion Group to launch Bali-Canberra service – Business Traveler

Canberra Airport and Lion Group have announced the launch of a new non-stop service between the Australian capital and Denpasar (Bali) from June 14.

The single route will initially operate three times a week with Batik Air's Airbus A320 aircraft, including a business class option.

Batik Air hopes to attract Canberrans to Bali and give travelers access to secondary destinations in Indonesia served by Lion Air, including Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Makassar and Manado. Batik Air is a full-service airline of the Lion Air Group.

Canberra Airport head of aviation Michael Thomson said it was fantastic to welcome another international airline to the network. “Bali is an incredible destination that combines culture, nature and adventure and attracts all types of travelers. “We are also excited about the opportunity to connect Canberra to Asia through Batik’s extensive network.”

Batik Air group strategy director Chandran Rama Muthy said Canberra is the sixth destination connecting Australia to Bali.

“Our goal is not only to attract travelers from Canberra to Bali, but also to reveal exciting exploration opportunities in the various Indonesian secondary destinations served by Lion Air. “We are dedicated to improving connectivity and making travel more accessible for Australian and Indonesian passengers, and this new route reaffirms our dedication to that goal,” he said.
