Jet2 has confirmed plans to launch flights between Manchester and Porto from early July, a year earlier than originally planned.
In November, the low-cost airline announced Porto as a new destination for summer 2025, with routes from both Birmingham and Manchester.
But Jet2 said that “due to huge demand for flights and city breaks”, the Manchester-Porto service will now operate between July 4 and November 3, with twice-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
Jet2 will join easyJet and Ryanair on the route, which offer year-round flights between the two cities.
The Birmingham-Porto route remains scheduled to start on March 25, 2025.
Jet2 recently announced plans to launch flights to Morocco from six UK airports from winter 2024, including routes from Birmingham and Manchester to Marrakech and Agadir.

Commenting on the news, Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said:
“Since we announced the launch of Porto’s new urban destination, we have experienced phenomenal demand.
“We always listen to what our customers and independent travel agents tell us, so we have acted quickly to bring forward the launch of Porto by a whole year, meaning flights and breaks to Porto are now available from Manchester Airport for summer 24.
“As Europe’s largest city break operator, this further expands our program and we know this news will be a big hit with customers looking to travel to this magnificent city.”
