IndiGo to operate direct flights from Durgapur to Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra and Guwahati

IndiGo has announced the launch of new routes connecting Durgapur with Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra and Guwahati, starting August 30, 2024. Earlier, Durgapur only had direct flights to metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. With these additions, IndiGo will operate 42 weekly flights from Durgapur, significantly enhancing trade, travel and tourism in eastern India. The new direct flights will drastically reduce travel times between Durgapur and the three cities from nearly 10 to 21 hours by land transport to less than 2 hours. IndiGo is the only airline to offer direct flights to all three destinations from Durgapur, reaffirming its commitment to convenient travel and expanding its domestic network.

Vinay Malhotra, Global Sales Director, IndiGo, expressed his delight at the new routes and emphasized the airline's dedication to providing seamless connectivity and reducing travel times by up to 90%. He highlighted that these new routes offer more convenient travel options and reinforce IndiGo's extensive 6E network across India and internationally. IndiGo continues to focus on providing affordable, punctual, courteous and hassle-free travel experiences for its passengers.

The new routes open important tourist and industrial destinations. Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha and known as 'The Temple City of India', attracts pilgrims and tourists with its beautiful temple architecture and numerous attractions like Lingaraj Temple and Nandankanan Zoological Park. Bagdogra in Darjeeling district serves as a gateway to tourist destinations like Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok. Guwahati, the largest city in Assam, is a cultural and commercial hub with historic temples, lively markets and picturesque landscapes, acting as a portal to the captivating northeastern region of India.
