How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Jordan Chiles

Jordan Chiles is always on the move.

The decorated gymnast and two-time Olympian recently competed on the latest season of “Dancing With the Stars,” finishing in third place alongside partner Ezra Sosa. She is an ambassador for brands such as Nike and Hero Cosmetics. In August, it launched a mentorship program called SHERO Athlete Collective for young athletes.

And in the midst of all that, he's finishing up his senior year at UCLA.

In Sunday Funday, the people of Los Angeles tell us step by step their ideal Sunday in the city. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on the weekends.

“I'm happy, but I'm also sad,” the 24-year-old says of her final year as a Bruin, adding, “It's great to know that my dream school has become my legacy.”

Chiles is also in the middle of a legal battle to regain the bronze medal he won and was later stripped of at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In January, Switzerland's Federal Supreme Court granted him an appeal to re-examine the matter. “I'm going to stand up for what's right,” he says. “I'm doing things to make sure no other athlete has to go through what I had to go through.”

With the Olympics coming to Los Angeles in 2028, the question of whether Chiles will participate is top of mind for many fans. Your answer?

“Right now, it's just me and my college career,” he says, flashing a bright smile. “I think right now being able to be a part of UCLA for my last season and then from there, from April to next year, we'll see what happens.”

Chiles trains every day except Wednesdays and Saturdays, but on his perfect Sunday, he would skip the gym to hang out with his dogs, go to the mall and watch his favorite shows.

9 am: Gospel music to start the day.

I feel like waking up at 9am is the perfect time because it gives you enough time in the day to do whatever, but you also don't get up too early. The first thing I would probably do, besides washing my face and brushing my teeth, is put on gospel music or listen to anything that calms me down. If I don't have practice, that's usually what I do, clean my house and start rejuvenating my body in a different way. I would take my dogs out. I have an Australian doodle, a teacup poodle, and a maltipoo. Their names are Versace, Chanel and Dolce Gabbana. Very bougie dogs.

9:30 am: Breakfast with a side of “Chicago Fire”

I would cook for myself. I like the usual scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado toast and sometimes a bagel. To eat some fruit, I would drink some apple juice to feel, “Okay, this was a great, healthy breakfast.” Then I would most likely sit on the couch and start binge-watching something. This is where lazy Jordan comes in. I got up, did this, ate, so now it's time to relax. Recently I've been seeing all the Chicago [shows] such as “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med”. I also recently started rewatching “Pretty Little Liars.”

12:30 p.m. Buy sporting goods and other interesting things

Normally, this is when Jordan feels like he needs to go shopping. I would leave my dogs and go to the mall. I deserve to go shopping. I deserve to splurge. I like to go to topanga mall. I really like it a lot Jamba Juice and there is one in the Topanga mall. I used to know the secret menu by heart before they started including it on the real menu. My go-to is the White Gummi shake.

I love streetwear, so if there are sneaker stores nearby I would go check them out. Sometimes I end up in an Apple Store, don't ask me how or why. It always ends like this. If I need sports clothes, I always go to Nike. You can never have too many Nike Pros. If I need to pluck my eyebrows or get my nails done, I can do it all at the mall while I'm shopping.

4 pm: Time to do homework

I head back home to beat the traffic and let my dogs out. I'd probably sit on my couch, scrolling through Pinterest, trying to figure out what I'm going to eat. Then I would start doing my homework. Since I'm still in college, I would start whatever I had to do that week. I try to stay as organized as possible because it's hard to be a businesswoman and still be a college student. I would probably do the task for about two and a half hours.

7 p.m.: Domino's pizza and more binges

I replay whatever show I'm watching and then cook or sometimes order. Honestly, it depends what Sunday it is. If it's football Sunday, you know I have wings and the typical Sunday vibe. But if not, you could make tacos or Alfredo, or order on Uber Eats. I know this is probably crazy, but I really, really, really, really love domino. I'm a pizza person. My order from Domino's is a small slice of pepperoni, pineapple, olives and sausage… hand-mixed, with cheese, and then I'll order a side of garlic knots and a side of chicken wings with ranch sauce.

If it's not Domino's, I won't do it either. beaten hut either Wendy's. I know it's probably crazy and you're like, “Jordan, you're an athlete,” but sometimes a girl just has to go in that direction. I like teriyaki food and hibachi places, so I would order at a place called Blazed N Icing either Teriyaki Madnessor this place on campus called Hibachi daddy.

21:00 Video games before bed.

I have an Xbox and a PlayStation, so sometimes I go into my game room and literally sit in my chair and play “Call of Duty” or “Halo.” Other than that, I have no nightly rituals. I'll just make sure my dogs are fed. I always pray before bed and my skincare is legit with Medicube, but I always make sure to apply a mask every other day before bed.

10:30 p.m.: Get ready for an early practice

Since I'll probably have to get up the next morning to practice early, I feel like 10:30 pm is a good time to go to sleep. Unless I'm doing something with my friends and we don't get back until 11:30 pm, but other than that, I'm in my bed or at least on my couch just relaxing.
