How and when to reserve tickets, flights and hotels from the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

When it comes to making travel plans for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Games, it can still be crouched in the initial blocks. But the race for flights, hotels and ticket reservations for events will begin in 2026, long before the games begin.

Los Angeles Times is their guide to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Follow us to obtain expert coverage of each aspect of the La28 Games.

If you plan to visit southern California for La28, the preparation will be crucial. And a little positive thought would not hurt. As the Winnipeg headquarters -based tourist operator says, Dave Guenther de Roadtrips, the Olympic cycle often feels like “two or three years of cynicism followed by two weeks of unbridled joy.”

As the days work at the Los Angeles Olympic Games (from July 14 to 30, 2028) and Paralympic (from August 15 to 27, 2008), we will answer the most important travel questions. We will add updates as new information enters, so be sure to mark this guide.

When will the tickets for the Olympic Games go on sale?

As of January, fans can register to enter the Lottery for Olympic tickets on the website of the Organizing Committee, La28.org. If you are selected in the random raffle, the organizers say, fans will receive a purchase time and a date for when the drops of tickets begin in the spring of 2026. The organizers say that those in the communities close to the places of the games will have early access. See a broader scheme of La28 ticket schedule here.

Also in early 2026, LA28 will begin offering hospitality packages that combine event tickets with accommodation during the night, transport and/or special events. Tickets for Paralympic Games will go on sale in 2027.

More details are expected at the end of this year. Any interested person can register to receive advertisements through the La28 Bulletin.

What will the tickets cost?

The organizers say that the Olympic and Paralympic competition tickets will begin at $ 28, about $ 2 more than in Paris in 2024. We still do not know the upper end. If Paris is a fair guide, the most coveted seats for the most popular events could be as high as $ 800 or more. Official suppliers are also expected to administer a channel for tickets, as they did in Paris.

It is likely that the two most expensive events are the opening and closing ceremonies. In Paris, ticket prices reached more than $ 2,900 for opening, and more than $ 1,700 for closing. In Los Angeles, for the first time, the opening ceremonies will be divided between two places, the Coliseum and the Sofi stadium in Inglewood.

Guenther said some of the most difficult tickets are gymnastics, swimming, athletics and beach volleyball. “If you are very interested in seeing the female gymnastics finals, you could be on a way of disappointment,” Guenther said. “But if you are flexible, there are many things that will be options.”

Can I volunteer in the games?

You can try. Recent Summer Games have trusted tens of thousands of volunteers, which must meet the language and training requirements. (Not all volunteer aspiring in Paris were assigned). To keep in touch with volunteer opportunities, register in the Bulletin of La28.

Where will the games happen?

The 2028 festivities will include 36 Olympic sports and 23 Paralympic sports, distributed in about 40 places. Most of the Lion's Olympic events will take place in the center of Los Angeles and Exhibition Park (which together have 10 places); Long Beach (seven places); Carson; Groin; The valleys of San Fernando and San Gabriel.

But events are also scheduled in San Clemente, Venice, Anaheim, Pacific Palisades, Pomona and the city of industry. Paralympic Games will use many of the same places. In fact, this could be a learning experience for those outside the city that do not realize how wide extends in Los Angeles.

Softball and Canoe Slalom events will be held in Oklahoma City.

How forward I can book flights?

Most airlines generally begin to accept 330 days (or 11 months) reservations before the flight date. In Southwest Airlines, the delivery time can be eight to 10 months.

How far can I book a hotel?

In general, hotels begin to accept reservations 365 days in advance, so if you are only looking for a room (and not a package of tickets and hotels), they establish a reminder for around July 2027. Many hotels in the great Los Angeles, especially those who are not affiliated with global marks, are likely to follow their usual schedules. If you are interested in a combined offer of hotel tickets, they will be offered in early 2026, as mentioned above.

Industry veterans say that most of Los Angeles' hotels have probably already made offers that allocate blocks of 2028 rooms to the organizers of the independent tourist games or operators such as Trips. For example, Queen Mary in Long Beach already has 300 rooms and suites under contract with LA28, according to the managing director Steve Caloca.

Another opportunity may arise even later: in general, organizers and tour operators often return the night without selling to hotels control 60 or 90 days before the event, which can give consumers the opportunity to book those “leftovers” directly, perhaps at a lower cost.

What will the hotel rooms cost?

Nothing increases hotels such as Olympic Games, and experts say that the most luxurious hotels tend to raise their prices more. Analyzing Paris figures, the Costa hotel industry consultants discovered that the average hotels rates- $ 342- $ 393 in the summer of 2023-more than it doubled at $ 731- $ 939 for the 2024 games.

The initial hotel rates are lower than those in Paris. Costa discovered that the average daily hotel rates for the elderly of July 14 to 30, 2024 were $ 193- $ 231.

What about short -term rentals?

Again, wait for prices to shoot. Airbnb reported an inventory of 40% accommodation and a 400% jump in the reserves of the Paris area during the 2024 games. On the eve of the games, the Property Management Hostify.com website reported that short -term rental prices in Paris had quintupado from $ 154 nights to $ 772.

Note that in each game, it seems, there are reports of astronomical prices, followed by subsequent reports of discounts of 11 hours because some people became too greed before.

Los Angeles seems to be starting with higher short -term rental rates than those in Paris. The Aurroi.com vacation rental website estimates that the Airbnb average rate in the Great Los Angeles for the year ended in August 2025 was $ 283.

But, of course, you can spend much more. A corridor told The Times that he has already rented a Los Angeles mansion for $ 300,000 per month in 2028.

How much can I reserve a short -term rent?

Airbnb allows reservations up to two years in advance, which is also the default VRBO configuration.

Will tensions experience the main hotels in Los Angeles and trade union workers during the Olympic Games?

Difficult to say. The City Council of Los Angeles approved in May a measure that requires that many hotels increase its minimum wage at $ 30 per hour in July 2028. A business group began a request to undo the measure, but fell short earlier this month.

Could President Trump's immigration policies affect the games?

That is the assumption of anyone. Heads of state in host countries generally play a ceremonial role, mainly in the background. Trump can have other ideas. In early August, he announced that he would preside over a working group in charge of Olympic security, border security and transport.

Some foreign sports fans could stay away to point out the opposition to the Trump administration, as many Canadian travelers have been doing this year. But national travelers, not foreign visitors, fill most of the seats in the Olympic Games. Paris tourism statistics show us visitors to that city during the “Olympic fortnight” of 2024, 13% relatively modest during the previous year.

Why do people spend so many problems seeing games?

“There is a tremendous magic,” said Guenther. “It really is something that people enjoy time along with people around the world … you are bathing for an athlete in a sport you have never thought about.”
