Hong Kong Airlines to return to Northern Marianas – Business traveler

Hong Kong Airlines reinstates its exclusive non-stop service between Hong Kong and Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands from April 28.

Hong Kong Airlines will fly its two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft on five-hour flights, including lie-flat seats in business class.

This will be the only route connecting Hong Kong and the Marianas.

Hong Kong Airlines' A330-300 aircraft has 32 seats in lie-flat 1-2-1 business class and 260 seats in 2-4-2 economy class.

Flights from Hong Kong to Saipan are scheduled to operate every Thursday and Sunday, departing Hong Kong at 7:35 p.m. and arriving in Saipan at 2:35 a.m. the next morning.

Return flights will depart from Saipan to Hong Kong every Friday and Monday at 0405 and land back in Hong Kong at 0700 on the same day.

The new service is not yet open to reservations.

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, as it is formally known, is made up of 14 tropical islands, with Saipan being the capital and largest island.

Things to do in the Marianas include scuba diving, water sports, and cave climbing.

The Marianas are difficult to access. There are few flights to Saipan, except from South Korea, which has several low-cost companies that serve the city from Seoul and Busan. Other than that, there is United Airlines with service to Guam and Tokyo.

Hong Kong Airlines previously operated Hong Kong-Saipan from 2016 to 2019.
