Flydubai adds PressReader to its inflight entertainment system – Business Traveler

Dubai-based airline flydubai has introduced PressReader to its in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.

Passengers can take advantage of free access to a wide selection of PressReader digital magazines through the airline's IFE system on board 70 percent of the airline's fleet.

Over the coming months, the airline will roll out the service to additional aircraft in its fleet.

Passengers in both business and economy classes can now search for business, news, travel and lifestyle digital content directly from their seats through the IFE system.

The airline's partnership with PressReader means that passengers visiting the Flydubai Business Lounge at Dubai International (DXB) can also enjoy free access to PressReader content.

By connecting to the Business Class Lounge Wi-Fi network and downloading the PressReader app, they can search and download their favorite publications before their flight.

Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations at flydubai, said: “We are excited to expand our partnership with PressReader. Over the years, we have invested in new technologies as part of our commitment to improving the customer experience and delivering the right product at the right time. By introducing PressReader as a paperless alternative to printed publications on board, we provide our passengers with free access to a wide range of popular international titles without contributing to additional fuel consumption.”

The airline's latest aircraft features the RAVE in-flight entertainment system, provided by Safran Passenger Innovations (SPI).

The seatback system has an 11.6-inch Full HD screen, with a selection of movies, TV shows, music and games, available to passengers in economy class if they choose to purchase a passenger entertainment and amenity package in business class. The airline plans to introduce its in-flight entertainment system on additional aircraft in its existing fleet.

“The expansion of our partnership with flydubai further strengthens our presence on board,” said Carlos Martínez, Director of Partnerships at PressReader. “By offering a wide range of interesting publications through flydubai's IFE system, we provide passengers with quality reading content during their flight, even in an offline environment.”

All Emirates passengers now have free Wi-Fi connectivity on board

Another Dubai-based airline, Emirates, with which flydubai shares an extensive partnership, upgraded its inflight connectivity system last year so that all Emirates passengers in every travel class can now take advantage of some form of free connectivity once who register for Emirates Skywards. Emirates has already invested more than $300 million in inflight connectivity.
