Etihad Airways and Air Serbia have signed a bilateral codeshare aimed at improving connectivity for customers of both airlines.

Under this partnership, Etihad customers gain access to 12 Southeast European destinations through Air Serbia's hub in Belgrade, nine of which are new to the Etihad network.

Jurriaan Stelder, Vice President of Alliances and Industrial Affairs at Etihad, said: “This partnership further expands our codeshare network and provides our guests with convenient access to 12 of Air Serbia's business and leisure destinations, including Belgrade, Bucharest , Budapest, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Skopje. and Sofia.”

Air Serbia's network becomes more easily accessible for Etihad customers, who can connect to it from Etihad gateways in Athens, Milan, Rome and Vienna.

Codeshare went live on January 30, 2024 for flights beginning February 3, 2024.

Etihad Guest is the loyalty program of both airlines and allows members to earn or redeem Etihad Guest miles on the Etihad Airways and Air Serbia networks.

Boško Rupić, Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer at Air Serbia, said: “By joining forces with Etihad we expand the reach of our services, offering our passengers a wider range of destinations and connectivity options. This means more choice, flexibility and convenience for those who choose Air Serbia for their travels. In addition to its European network, Etihad is also growing elsewhere. The airline will increase flights to Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Amman in Jordan, Beirut in Lebanon, as well as Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Kolkata and Bengaluru in India over the coming months.

For the summer, the airline says it will offer almost 27 percent more weekly departures compared to the same period last year.
