Embraer E190 freighter receives ANAC type certification
Dark/Light Mode (07/24/24) Embraer's latest aircraft, the 190F E-Freighter, convertible into a full-size cargo aircraft, has been certified by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
The plane, which will make its public debut this week at the Farnborough Air Show in England, was developed to fill a gap in the air cargo market and to replace older, less efficient models.
Embraer expects the E190F, which made its maiden flight in April, to receive EASA and FAA certification later this year, with the cargo system shortly thereafter.

The E190F project was launched in 2022 to meet the changing demands of modern e-commerce and trade, which require fast deliveries and decentralized operations that drive demand for faster shipping to secondary and tertiary markets.
“The E-Freighter marks Embraer’s first step into the freighter market,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “The aircraft has been very well received this week by potential customers who saw our E-Freighter for the first time in Farnborough. This is a segment that has tremendous potential and breathes new life into the early E-Jets that are now entering the regular replacement phase.”
According to Embraer, the E-Jets converted to freighters will have 40% more volume capacity, three times the range of large freighter turboprops and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbody aircraft.
Combining underfloor and main deck capacity, the maximum structural payload is 13,500 kg for the E190F.
“We are very pleased with the ANAC certification for the E-Freighter. This important step demonstrates that Embraer has the engineering and MRO capabilities required to deliver an exceptional product and services for our customers. We are ready to support operators interested in expanding their activities in the cargo market with best-in-class service,” said Carlos Naufel, CEO and President of Embraer Services & Support.
In May 2022, Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) was appointed launch lessor for
The E190F/E195F.
