China Airlines, a SkyTeam member and Taiwan's national carrier, will launch a five-week route between Taipei and Seattle on July 14, its sixth North American destination.
China Airlines will deploy one of its wide-body Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the route, with seating options of 1-2-1 in business class, 2-3-2 in premium economy class and 3-3-3 in economy class.
Earlier this month, China Airlines confirmed a $400 million cabin refurbishment program for its 15 A350-900s, scheduled to begin this year.
The Taipei-Seattle service will depart the Taiwanese capital every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 p.m. and arrive in Seattle at 7:50 p.m. local time after approximately 11 hours of flight. The return flight CI021 will take off at 01:40 from Seattle and arrive at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan at 05:05 the next morning.
To celebrate CI022, new nonstop service to Seattle, China Airlines is offering discounts of up to 22 percent on round-trip fares. The airline's Dynasty frequent flyer members will also receive 2,200 bonus miles each way flying the new route through the end of September.
Seattle will be China Airlines' sixth destination in North America after Los Angeles, Ontario (CA), San Francisco, New York and Vancouver.
China Airlines has operated in the North American market for more than half a century.
Scheduled non-stop service to Ontario (CA) remains exclusive to China Airlines.
Another Taiwanese airline, EVA Air, also currently serves the Taipei-Seattle route and Taiwan's Starlux Airlines will also join the fight later this year.
