Dark/light mode (01/12/24) Assaia has appointed Christiaan Hen as CEO, replacing Max Diez, who will become chairman of the board of directors.
Assaia's response optimization technology has helped transform the operations of airports, airlines and ground operators around the world in the five years since its launch.
Christian Hen
Christiaan has impressive experience in the aviation sector. His career path took flight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, where he worked on the development and management of airport capacity. After managing the terminal's operations for several years, he became Head of Innovation at the Schiphol Group. His decade-long role in airport operations, development and innovation prepared him for his next role as chief customer officer at Assaia International and now CEO.
“Max has put Assaia in an incredibly strong position; Our goal is to build on our recent successes, including doubling our customer base by 2023. Last year, Southwest Airlines, Berlin Brandenburg Airport, and Fraport, among others, began managing and optimizing their response processes using our technology. “We are on track to continue growing in 2024, and this transition is aimed at maintaining that momentum with a strong focus on what matters most: our customers,” said Christiaan. “And we have the support and expertise of our community of strategic partners behind us to ensure we continue to deliver exactly what the industry needs. “I feel very privileged to take on the role at a time when everything is in place for solid growth.”
Assaia uses AI to reduce response times and improve punctuality, which in turn improves the passenger experience and improves airport capacity. It does this by enabling real-time responses to increase gate availability and ensure ramp safety. Additionally, by focusing on reducing taxi time and limiting the use of auxiliary power units, airports and airlines can use the resulting data to make significant progress on their sustainability goals.
Max Diez said: “We know that around 80% of airlines and airports will purchase response optimization technology in the coming years. This is now a well-defined and recognized category. And Assaia is the leader of the category. Christiaan exemplifies the spirit of our technology built by operators for operators. “His knowledge, experience and outstanding work ethic make him the right person to lead Assaia during its next phase, maintaining our continuity, momentum, culture and customer trust.”
