Air Canada has announced a major overhaul of its inflight dining service, with dozens of new dishes and more pre-ordering options for premium customers.
The flag carrier is introducing more than 100 new rotating seasonal dishes, along with new snacks and drinks.
In the value category, new dishes include Thai red chicken and rice, and chicken cacciatore with roasted potatoes and bell peppers. On longer flights where a hot breakfast is served there will be the option of pancakes and Canadian maple syrup, while passengers on services from Europe will be offered Monty's Bakehouse pastries including coconut chicken and potato and chive sour cream.
Meanwhile, customers traveling on international flights in Air Canada Signature Class will see new options including chicken thigh with mandi rice and Emirati bzar sauce; grilled salmon in teriyaki sauce with Shandong noodles; and a Middle Eastern mezze plate appetizer.
Premium passengers will also benefit from expanded booking options, with the service launching on flights within North America and the option to pre-select the second meal option on international services later this year.
Other changes include new champagnes selected by sommelier Véronique Rivest, upgraded hot meals in business class on flights under two hours within North America, and new snack basket options for premium economy and Signature Class customers, including Sweet Sixteen candy mix, Chomps grass-fed beef jerky, and Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares.
Finally, Air Canada's paid Bistro menu is launching new options including a peppercorn roast beef sandwich, cheeseburgers, and new vegan options including Mediterranean hummus wraps.
Commenting on the news, Scott O'Leary, vice president of loyalty and products at Air Canada, said:
“We are incredibly proud to introduce these delicious new dining options, featuring homegrown Canadian products and ingredients that reflect the diversity of Canada and the tastes and preferences of our customers.
“The attention and care we've put into enhancing our menus and offering fresh new flavors for everyone is one of the many ways we're investing in every aspect of our customers' journey to make traveling even better.”
