Waze will receive a nice quality of life update that will help you drive safer and inform you of any recent changes on the road.
The patch is planned to be released on Android and iOS devices worldwide, but the release will not happen all at once. Instead, the six features will be released in parts over the next few months. It's a little complicated, but once you analyze the ad, it all makes sense.
When it comes to safety, the app will notify you in advance if there are emergency vehicles on your route. That way you'll know when to change lanes or take a detour. This tool is currently reaching users living in the US, Canada, Mexico, and France, and Waze promises more countries coming soon.
Our favorite update of the bunch has to be Waze, which decides to announce upcoming speed limit changes in case they're about to suddenly drop. It is quite a useful tool whenever you want to avoid getting caught in a speed trap. Third, developers are expanding hazard detection to include speed bumps, sharp turns, and toll booths. The speed limit warnings and hazard detection update are currently rolling out to all users.
Navigating the world
This next set of features is scheduled to be released in the future.
Normally, every time someone opens a navigation app it is because they want to reach their destination as soon as possible. Well, later this month, you'll have the option to take more scenic routes. They may not be the quickest way to get home, but at least you'll have the chance to take your favorite route.
Most drivers agree that finding a parking spot in a city can be an absolute nightmare. To make finding the sweet spot less stressful, Waze is partnering with software company Flash to provide parking information. The app will tell you how much it costs to park in a spot, whether it's covered or open to the elements, if there's valet, and more.
The announcement indicates that the new data source will have a limited release. It will provide information on a select group of 30,000 parking spaces in major cities in the United States and Canada.
The last feature will teach people how to navigate a roundabout. Waze claims they will tell you when to enter, when to change lanes, and “where to exit.” Android users will receive the roundabout tool later this month; However, iPhone owners will have to wait until the end of the year to get the same update.
We've reached out to Google, which is Waze's parent company, to ask if there are plans for future expansion and if it will add the same features to the app's website. This story will be updated later.
It looks like the latest Waze patch will keep a lot of people safe, but accidents happen all the time. To keep your insurance rates from skyrocketing, check out TechRadar's list of the best dash cameras for 2024. You never know when you'll need one.
