The first trailer for Apple TV Plus' Constellation has been released and suggests the streamer isn't ready to give up its sci-fi show crown.
Starring Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), the mind-bending psychological thriller looks set to take its place among Apple's elite list of sci-fi shows when it launches on February 21. Don't take my word for it though – take a look ConstellationMind-blowing, twisted sneak peek below for you to see for yourself.
If you need story details, the trailer shows quite a bit about ConstellationTo be fair, the mind-altering plot: here's a more detailed synopsis, courtesy of Apple:
“Constellation It stars Rapace as Jo, an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space, only to discover that key pieces of her life appear to be missing. The action-packed space adventure is an exploration of the dark edges of human psychology and one woman's desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and recover everything she has lost.”
Constellation It's leaving no stone unturned in its quest to become Apple TV Plus' latest sci-fi hit and take its place on our list of the best Apple TV Plus shows. In addition to featuring talented stars like Rapace and Banks, its broader supporting cast is filled with household names, including James D'Arcy (oppenheimer), Julian Looman (Emily in Paris), and Barbara Sukowa (Traveler).
There are some heavy hitters behind the camera in Constellation also. Peter harnessWallander) is the creator and head writer of this chilling mystery, while Emmy Award-winning director Michelle MacLaren (The morning program, bright girls) is in main management functions. By the way, Constellation It is also a kind of mini Breaking Bad reunion, as MacLaren directed 11 episodes, six of which Banks appeared in. The duo teamed up again for two episodes of Better call Saulalso.
Room for another big sci-fi hit?
While it still lags behind some of the world's best streaming services in terms of subscribers and extensive movie and TV libraries, few would dispute that Apple TV Plus is the place to go for sci-fi spectacles.
Since then For all humanity helped launch Apple's streaming service in November 2019, the tech giant's platform has bolstered its ranks in the sci-fi genre with multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed television shows. Of that contingent, Breaking off is arguably the most successful, with the first season of the psychological workplace thriller earning rave reviews and 15 awards. It is not surprising, then, that Breaking off Season 2 was greenlit faster than most other series developed by Apple.
But there are many more epic sci-fi movies that have helped establish Apple TV Plus as a leader in the genre over the past four years. Base is one of my big favorites, while people like Silo, Invasionand See have proven popular enough to get more seasons on the streaming service. Other programs positioned in science fiction, such as Hello morning! and strange planet They are awaiting renewals on the platform, but they have been received positively by the general public.
Apple has canceled other genre shows: musical comedy Schmigadoon!animated offer Central Parkand sports drama Strut They've all been canned for the past seven weeks, but their catalog of sci-fi shows continues to go from strength to strength. Based on its official trailer, Constellation It looks set to further cement Apple TV Plus' reputation as the reigning king of sci-fi, and it will take a monumental fall from grace for me to stop recommending it as the preeminent streamer for all your space needs.
The first three episodes of Constellation arrive on Friday, February 21. New entries are published weekly until the end of March 27.
