Publisher Tencent Games has revealed Rules of Engagement: The Gray Statean upcoming tactical extraction shooter set in a horror universe.

Rules of Engagement: The Gray State It takes many of its core principles, including the focus on tactical combat and extraction mechanics. It also features new PvE elements, allowing you to fight environmental threats as well as players, and a deep class-based progression system with huge skill trees.
The game is set in the titular Gray State, a newly discovered dimension filled with nightmarish creatures. You play as a Strider, one of the elite soldiers fighting to recover a priceless artifact from the outback.
The setting is based on a wide variety of horror scenarios, drawing inspiration from a wide selection of films, books and other sources.
It will be a free-to-play game and the developer promises that there will be no pay-to-win monetization. In-game purchases will be cosmetic only, such as weapon skins and battle passes.
There will be three classes available at launch and more are planned later.
The game will be released in 2026 after alpha testing earlier that year and will be an exclusive title for PC.
