If I wasn't filled with stress every time I sat down to watch an episode, I'd be crying about it. The pit Season 2 is coming to an end. Our favorite emergency room's chaotic Fourth of July shift has been on our screens since January, but all scary things must come to an end.
And terrible it has been. We've seen patient deaths, the aftermath of sexual assault, a potentially abused child, and a truckload of bodies (live, don't worry) arriving after an incident at a water park. For our team of doctors, it's just another day at work.
With one episode left until the hit HBO Max show's annual hiatus, absolutely anything could happen, especially the permanent departure of Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) after spending most of the last two seasons in internal turmoil.

“It's much more character-based than season 1”
“There's a couple… there's a real surprise coming your way at an alarming speed,” Dourif tells me about the upcoming season 2 finale of The well. “There's a lot to come. I think season 2 is a lot more character-oriented than season one, which was really trying to get everyone focused on this mass casualty event.”
Of course, at this point in Season 2, a shooting at a nearby school meant that the emergency room was overrun by teenage victims, with a potential suspect locked in one of the hospital's interrogation rooms. Tensions were high and the drama continued for the final four episodes of the season.
This time, the stakes seem much lower, and there are no mass deaths in sight.
“Season 2 is much more about particular characters reaching a point of conflict and then achieving resolution. Sorry to be so vague,” Dourif continues.
“It's a beautiful season. In fact, I think we even hit our stride a little bit more in Season 2 than in Season 1, which was a real fear for everyone making the show because it was so well-received in Season 1. We were like, 'Can we do it again without this format of something as big as mass casualty?'”
On the plus side, this means that our big surprise waiting for us in the store won't be one that kills someone. With The pit Season 3 is already confirmed, Supriya Ganesh (Samira Mohan) is all set to go.
During an event for the launch of HBO Max UK, Wyle confirmed that season 3's story arcs were in development, with character changes attributed to the ER being a teaching hospital, meaning abnormally high turnover.
As long as the others are safe, I'll be happy to let them The pit The season 2 finale continues… even if they're going to surprise me one last time.
