Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a damaged detective in a new crime drama from Prime Video called Killer heat It's something I'd pay to see on the big screen. But, this time around, I'll have to settle for watching him investigate a murder in the sunny paradise of Greece on one of the best streaming services at home.
Everyone loves a mystery full of twists, but… Killer heat It will surely be a welcome addition to the genre. With its classic film noir style and idyllic Mediterranean setting, Shailene Woodley plays a distrustful wife who is desperate to uncover a murder conspiracy within her husband's family.
If the eye-catching trailer is any indication (see below), then Killer heat has the potential to become one of the best movies on Prime Video. On the Greek island of Crete, Penelope Vardakis (Woodley) hires private detective Nick Bali (Gordon-Levitt) to investigate the alleged accidental death of her brother-in-law Leo Vardakis (Richard Madden).

Penelope is convinced that someone in the Vardakis family is responsible for the death of her husband Elias' twin brother (also played by Madden) and she can't trust the local police because the powerful Vardakis family owns her. Through Nick's interrogation, it soon becomes clear that Penelope could also meet a grim fate if Elias were to find out what she's really up to.
Killer heat This is no ordinary Greek holiday, as Nick uncovers dark secrets and intense jealousy as the Vardakis family rules like gods. With suspicions, lies and feuds everywhere on the island, it's clear that anyone could be a suspect.

Killer heat is based on Jo Nesbø's 2021 short story The jealous man, A troubled detective with a flair for jealousy is on the hunt for a man suspected of murdering his twin brother. However, he has secrets of his own to hide.
Gordon-Levitt and Woodley reunite in Killer heat after starring in the 2016 biographical thriller Snowy. In addition to Madden, they are also joined by Abbey Lee and Clare Holman.
This is not the first time Nesbø's work has been adapted from book to screen, as Netflix has announced a new mystery-thriller series. Detective Hole, which Based on Jo Nesbø's series of crime novels about legendary detective Harry Hole.
Meanwhile, Michael Fassbender played the role of Hole in the 2017 film flop. The snowman, which received a terrible 7% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But we are sure that Killer heat will be better received if we stick to the success of some of the streamer's previous original projects.
