If there is any word describing the Macan EV, it is refined. Porsche began operating in 2019 with the launch of its first modern electric, the Taycan, an expensive sports car that quickly demonstrated that inherited car manufacturers could easily compete with Tesla in their own terms. This launch also gave Porsche an advantage over other car manufacturers in the conventional EV market of the current that springs, which allows them to refine their electricity offer before other important car companies even announce electrification plans.
On the contrary, the electric macan arrived in early 2024 (2024 finals for Australians) to drastic market conditions: the interest in Tesla's cars was pretending, particularly with China challengers that offer competitive products, with such market conditions until today. In fact, it seems that Porsche and the automobile manufacturers established in a similar way are now those who play defense, with Chinese rivals such as Polestar, Xpeng and I am ready to snatch the market of drivers excited about electrification now that technology has progressed a bit, prices have dropped and the load infrastructure is a little later.
These brands offer models that are competitively specified and with a price of Macan Electric … although they all lack a key thing: they are not Porsche.

Electrical experience, refined
A large touch screen, headboard and a first -class digital and minimalist user interface are no longer innovative things in the automotive industry, not even for a luxury car manufacturer like Porsche. Technology like this has simply become synonymous with EV, and now it is a bit a bit when it becomes bad. That is why I am so excited with the Porsche Macan EV, because it is not just using all these things, but has dominated them.
The information and entertainment system in Macan EV feels reflective. The text has a correct size, the icons are not too small for a dactinapre, and in fact there are enough physical controls (for things like the air conditioning) so that the car is driving correctly without the need to touch the screen.
The built -in navigation application is well done and can be trusted, although with the well -designed interface of the car, it is not discomfort to connect your phone and shoot Android Auto or Apple Carplay, although with the first one, I discovered that my phone would often be quite slow when it was placed on the Macan wireless load platform.
One of the most impressive parts of Macan's board is its concave instrument cluster. The screen behind the steering wheel is curve, which gives it depth and, ultimately, it makes it much better than similar digital groups of other car manufacturers. The screen can be adjusted to include up to three meters, or you can simply change to portray a speed indication and a live map, giving easy and easy directions to see on the road. It is, with much, my favorite instrument group of any EV, or even any car, I have tried.
The Heads-Up screen is the cherry cherry. In the cruise control, the screen will demonstrate the distance lines between the car in front of you and yourself, which you will keep like any other car with an adaptive cruise. It will also visualize the lines that you can currently see on the sides of the road, useful to ensure that lane assistance is enabled on a poorly marked road.
The driving dynamics of Porsche Macan is, as expected, brilliant, with the car offering a forceful acceleration and great road management. As a result, it is a fairly large car and its circle of rotation suffers, but it is a brilliant vehicle, regardless of a comfortable trip inside and outside the city. It is quite wide and has large 22 -inch wheels, so if your idea of a Porsche is a low -track toy to the ground, I think it will be disappointed mainly with the electric macan, although it will not care about its exceptional handling, and with a lot of starting space and rear seat, it will definitely be a comfortable car for the holidays.
The range and recharge speed are also not problems, with the gigantic 100 kWh battery capable of facilitating the value of driving a weekend. A 270KW CC recharge capacity is also suitable for the price, although considering the Chinese EVs in the luxury segment exceed this (or even the EVs well below the luxury segment: the XPEng G6 is half the price of Macan and capable of 280kw). I would notice that this may seem inexpressive at some point in the near future. No also However, close, since CC public loaders tend to maximize 350kw, and any major capacities would require important changes in infrastructure.
One last thing worth mentioning. Thanks to having smaller engines, many electric cars can provide additional storage space under the hood. The Macan has a useful amount of Sub-Bonnet space, but exceeds other car manufacturers by having a dedicated open button in the Keyfob. This gives the real utility space, which shows other car manufacturers that offer space but lack an easy way to put the hood. Cool!
But is it enough?
An initial cost of $ 78,000 / £ 68,500 / AU $ 128,400 will be unattainable for most people and will undoubtedly keep many buyers away from the Macan, although I think it is unlikely that Porsche will change this soon. Porsche has earned the right to fix the price of Macan as follows: every aspect of the car is luxurious, although there are aspects that some potential buyers may think they are a bit a lot.
Similar to the previous Taycan, there are cargo ports on both sides of the car with only one equipped for fast CC charging. These ports open with the most designed doors that I have seen, through undulating engines that slide open and closed ports. I think this is unnecessary, even for a luxury car: add mechanical complexity to open the doors, which could break one day. A pop-open door will serve.
In addition, some of the most expensive Macan ornaments have a third touch screen placed in front of the front passenger seat for their occupant. I suppose it is a great idea to control your passenger about things like reproduction of music from a convenient screen in front of them, but I really do not see the point, especially with music transmission applications capable of playing music in groups, with several phones that control the current song, it only seems excessive.
Going to the unexpected, I found a critical freezing operating system at the beginning of the car one morning. The information and entertainment system was blocked in the Porsche logo and I could not interact with it, and needed to restore it manually. I have found this with cars in the past and it is never upset, but I was surprised to have dealt with such an expensive car.
Apart from these things, I really do not think there is not much to like about the Porsche Macan Electric. The company has worked very hard to polish this car to an undeniable quality point.
Should you buy the Porsche Macan Electric?
It is easy for me to recommend something as expensive as the Porsche Macan Electric, but obviously it is not for everyone. It has an unmatched quality level, and among luxury electric SUVs, it deserves to be in the high range of the market. My colleague Leon Poultney became practical with the Macan Electric a little in front of me and argued that it would be a shame that Porsche reduced his EV ambitions when cars like Macan feel so dominated, and I agree very much: Porsche has stuck the task and I think it offers some really special cars in the electric space.
If you are chasing a similar level of quality, it would recommend both the Polestar 3 and the Polestar 4, the Audi Q6 e-tron or the BMW IX. In general terms, these cars compete with the Macan Electric while undermining it in the price.
