It's January 2026, and that means the conversation about eating and having fun has been replaced by conversations about exercising, losing weight, and getting back to normal. The holiday season ends almost as soon as it began, and the new year arrives faster than many of us would like.
This time of year is unique because it makes many of us wonder what we are doing with our lives and if we are making the best decisions. We ask questions like: Am I eating too much junk food? Do I drink too much alcohol? Could you read more books? Do I get enough sleep?
These are important questions that represent the beginning of resolutions that help us think differently and therefore act differently. The problem is that most New Year's resolutions have been thrown out by the time February rolls around. That's why we need an application like inhabit.
Home Screen Heroes
This is part of a regular series of articles exploring the apps we couldn't live without. Read them all here.
Habitify has helped over 2.5 million people develop better habits and, in turn, build a better life. By harnessing the transformative power of habits, Habitify helps you optimize your daily routines and achieve your goals. It's a powerful promise that appeals to many, but how effective is it really? I'm diving into the app to see what Habitify offers and if it could make your resolutions stick.
Tailored habits
Habitify allows you to create good habits and eliminate bad ones. Good habits include things like meditating, reading, running, and journaling, while bad habits include smoking, overeating, nail biting, and too much screen time. The app provides a variety of presets, but it's also possible to create your own personalized habit by entering details manually or using AI prompts.
Creating effective habits requires some self-reflection. Think about the parts of your life that could use some attention. It can be related to health, fitness, mind, mood, career or study. Whatever it is, make sure you commit to doing something about it before you start.
Once you've set up your habits, it's time to add them to specific “areas.” This is one of the most innovative and useful parts of the Habitify app. Areas can relate to times of day, such as morning, afternoon, or evening, but can also focus on specific locations such as the gym, pool, or morning walk to work. By grouping related habits, you'll know exactly which habits you need to focus on at different times of the day or when you're in specific places. It also helps keep your habit list organized.
Keep motivated
When you've completed a habit, it's time to set it to completion. This is one of the most satisfying parts of the entire process because your body releases dopamine, which is a key part of the brain's reward system. This boosts motivation and provides a rush of pleasure when a goal is achieved.
Habits can be quickly implemented by swiping, with a swipe to the left registering the habit as complete and a swipe to the right opening up other options, including the ability to add a note. It is also possible to add integrations with platforms such as Apple Health, Fitbit and Strava. These connections allow Habitify to automatically flag habits when the associated health team tracks them as completed.
To help with progress, Habitify offers streak reports so you can see which of your habits are moving in the right direction and which have plateaued. There are also graphs and statistics that allow you to drill down into each specific habit.
Another way to stay motivated is to connect with friends through the app. It could be creating a circle of like-minded running buddies or friends who want to hold each other accountable for their eating habits. The Friends tab allows you to share your progress, offer encouragement, and reach your goals with others.
It's time to start
If you're interested in jumping on the habit tracking bandwagon, I recommend starting small. Your first step should seem so easy that you can't say no. Two-minute habits are a fantastic starting point. It is then about showing up every day, something that is feasible if small daily actions have been chosen instead of large, unattainable goals. And lastly, be patient. Lasting change doesn't happen overnight.
Habitify offers free and premium plans. The free version has very limited functionality with a maximum of three habits and no advanced integrations or reminders. Premium, on the other hand, offers full functionality with unlimited habits and full integration.
Habitify Premium costs $6.99 per month or $39.99 per year. In the UK, it costs £2.50 per month and is billed annually at £29.99. Lifetime options are also available.
Download Habitify on iOS either Android.
