Capcom has confirmed that Dragon Dogma 2 will have an uncapped frame rate at launch.
In a new post shared on X (formerly Twitter) today (February 14), Dragon Dogma 2 Director Hideaki Itsuno announced that the game will launch with an uncapped frame rate (via IGN). This means that the fantasy RPG will not have a frame rate set at 30fps, which was a topic of conversation and concern among fans, prior to Itsuno's official confirmation.
On the other hand, this variable frame rate could pose some problems, as it is a feature that changes depending on what is on the screen, be it action sequences or cutscenes. It is not yet known how it will go Dragon Dogma 2.
Itsuno did not reveal which platforms this feature will be available on; however, it seems likely that it will be present on PC. Although there's no official confirmation, the director liked the response from a fan who asked if it would be “on consoles too,” so read that as you will.

Dragon Dogma 2 will launch on March 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and is one of our most anticipated games of 2024.
Itsuno also recently revealed that the upcoming sequel is “approximately four times larger” than the original world of Gransys and that there will be “more to experience than ever before.” So, it looks like there will be plenty for fans of the series, as well as newcomers, to dive into.
In our September 2023 preview, writer Cat Bussell said the game is “working from a very solid set of fundamentals” and “has a lot of heart” with a “strong emphasis on character customization.”
