Streaming packages are increasingly the way to go for households trying to juggle multiple high-priced subscriptions. And, just eight days after Comcast revealed its plan to help you reduce the size of your streaming expenses with its StreamSaver package, the media conglomerate confirmed how much it will cost to subscribe to its new package.
On May 14, Comcast announced the debut of its StreamSaver package, a multi-streaming offering that would give you access to Netflix, Apple TV Plus, and Peacock at an affordable price. Basically, it is a package that will save you money in the long term, since you will not have to register on all three platforms to enjoy the content they offer.
At the time, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said the package would soon be available at a “deeply discounted price,” although an official monthly rate was not revealed along with the package itself. Now, it appears Comcast has kept his word, with a StreamSaver subscription costing just $15 per month, according to a Comcast press release.
To put that in context, signing up individually for the ad-supported Standard tier of Netflix, Apple TV Plus, and Peacock Premium (Peacock's ad-supported tier) would cost $22.97 each month. So, in essence, you're saving about $8 every 30 days by signing up for Comcast's StreamSaver deal. To put it another way, that's a savings of around 35% for three of the best streaming services in the world.
However, this agreement has its caveats. The $15 per month fee is in addition to the price that new and existing Xfinity Internet customers pay (or will pay) for their Comcast Internet and/or TV plans. If you sign up for the StreamSaver deal, you'll also be on ad-supported tiers for both Netflix and Peacock, rather than ad-free tiers. Still, it represents overall seismic savings; one on par with the Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus package, which also costs $15 per month.
If you also want access to Now TV, you can combine all four streaming platforms for $30 a month. That's a slight increase over Comcast's existing 'Now TV plus Peacock' plan, which costs $20 a month. No matter which plan you choose, all charges will be reflected on a single monthly bill, making it as simple as possible.
We will need a larger package
It's no secret that streaming is becoming more expensive, and as prices rise across the board in other areas, households are having to make tough decisions about where they spend their money. The entertainment giants aren't making things any easier either, with Netflix expected to get another price increase across all tiers later in 2024, while Max may also follow the lead of Netflix and Disney Plus by raising its rates. If costs continue to rise, more and more viewers will begin to vote with their feet and be more selective about the streaming services they subscribe to.
It seems that many of us are too. A Statista study, published earlier this year, found that nearly 40% of respondents “wish their programs were all on one platform,” while “one in three respondents said it's becoming too expensive to pay.” for all the content they want. watch.” It's no wonder people are flitting between, say, Netflix or Apple's streaming platform to watch the best Netflix shows or the best Apple TV Plus shows monthly to get their money's worth.
Packages like Comcast's StreamSaver, then, greatly simplify the billing process for multiple subscriptions and make it easier to justify subscribing to multiple streaming services per household. That said, the arrival of these types of packages, especially those that herald a return to the good old days of cable television, also speaks to the need for greater subscriber growth among the major streaming services, and how expensive they are. It has become for households to remain subscribed to individual services. platforms. Streaming packages like this are probably the smartest choice you can make, and I'd be surprised if we don't see more like them in the coming months and years.
