Chinese designer Ruohan Nie offered a subtle but elevated vision of the everyday for fall 2024.
Nie said the collection is the final chapter of his three-part series exploring shapes, lines and points. But that abstract inspiration didn't translate legibly on the runway, leaving the audience in the dark about the overall narrative.
What did stand out, however, were the capes, cozy-looking fabrics and elongated shapes in beige, black, white, gray and red, which in themselves were strong, elevated and commercially viable.
But his show, which took place on the last day of a month of shows, which ended with a bang with big names like Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton, required something more expressive than what Nie offered here.
