As one of the final shows of the Fall/Winter 2024 season at Paris Fashion Week, young French brand Avellano put a modern twist on its signature PVC looks and featured singer-songwriter Noah Cyrus as its model. opening and final bridal look.
In the final leg of Paris Fashion Week's nine-day run of Fall/Winter collections, the young eponymous brand Avellano, founded in 2020 by Arthur Avellano, paraded in an abandoned concrete industrial space on the left bank of Paris. The cool kids of fashion of the day – that included this season's front row regular Cole Sprouse, as well as Brazilian model Kelly Piquet and singer-songwriter Naomi Sharon, arrived in style in Avellano's signature attire, meaning the brand's full PVC looks.
Avellano's muse (already the star of its Spring/Summer 2024 campaign), singer and songwriter Noah Cyrus opened the show in an olive green bomber jacket and matching tights, the first reinterpreted on full vinyl as part of a collaboration with the brand from Schott NYC outerwear. Jumpsuits and latex gloves were also recurring highlights, as were tight-fitting evening dresses.
The soundtrack of the show was none other than the deep, velvety voice of Cyrus himself, which could be heard echoing through the cement walls of the venue. It was later revealed in a press release that the melancholic, heartfelt (and Shazam-impossible!) song is in fact an upcoming unreleased song from the artist.
Avellano stuck to its established DNA as different vinyl variations appeared on the runway. From oversized jet black blazers to sheer, forest green floor-length trench coats; Elongated quilted jackets and a pair of coats imitating a motif reminiscent of Astrakhan fur, each piece was elegantly conceived in a democratization of vinyl. Avellano elevates the controversial fabric to the ranks of haute couture, sealing its inclusion in the industry and elevating its status above that of the shelves of a shady sex shop on Rue Saint-Denis.
Another strong costume from the show was an elongated, ghost-white latex doctor's coat, cut out at the crotch and paired with thin black sunglasses, as well as a backless, form-fitting PVC fishtail dress that strutted around. along the catwalk.
The best was saved for last, as Noah Cyrus closed the show in a stunning, custom-made wedding dress (all of Avellano's looks are) that featured a thirty-foot vinyl train, which followed the star and to the designer while receiving thunderous applause.
