Kiko Kostadinov Fall 2024 Runway Review, Fashion Show and Ready-to-Wear Collection

The duo behind Kiko Kostadinov's women's range, Laura and Deanna Fanning, opted for a muted color palette for a fall 2024 collection that was inspired by outdoor staples done through a Y2K lens.

It was a mix of glamping and Harajuku, with utilitarian staples in coated cotton, velvet and corduroy, as well as her take on a wellington boot, reinvented to fit a super cool girl's wardrobe. She probably goes camping from time to time, but that doesn't stop her from looking like an expert at surviving in the wilderness.

On a technical level, the Fanning sisters said the collection explored the relationship between soft and hard. It wasn't just about the protective outerwear contrasting delicate fabrics and blouses, but also about how the weight of fabrics and construction can impact the dynamic of the garment with the body.

That is, giant braids formed an armored silhouette on the sweaters, which the Fannings said reflected their feelings about the difficult environment facing the world. So did the hats, which looked like both a helmet and a wig.

The debut of a style of message bag, called Mezulari, in suede and soft green leather also played on the outdoors theme, as it was made to be durable and fit everything one needs to survive a day in the jungle. urban. “You can put a laptop in there. We tried it the week before the show and it's really good,” the duo said.

Reflecting the offering of the men's show, the collection featured a collaboration with Levi's. For the Fannings' first encounter with denim, they offered a three-piece suit in washed chocolate with faux shearling details, and a striped blouse.
