For fall 2024, Isabel Marant returned to her bohemian roots and painted the image of an urban gaucha jogging through Paris in bold animal prints, fringed jackets, and statement ankle boots that are sure to turn heads on the street.
“I think a lot of people had the same thing. [western] vibrates right now. We wanted to give it a little more edge and get some movement with fringe. The girl is very strong. It's about female empowerment and, to give it a different touch, we added some reds,” said Kim Bekker, artistic director of Isabel Marant since 2021.
The collection offered many items that should sell, such as ankle boots with detachable metal chains, olive green cargo pants, safari jackets, chunky knitwear, leopard print jackets and fringed scarves.
Large crossbody bags in beige and brown were interesting additions to the range. It almost served as a reminder that you can carry a laptop, a Stanley Cup, and baby diapers in one go while looking like you live on a Tadao Ando-designed ranch in New Mexico.
Overall, the collection was refreshing, although it followed a familiar recipe. For those looking to escape the reality of the current dire economic situation, Marant's lineup was full of feel-good energy, something that has often been missing in London and Milan this season.
