First fashion, now beauty. Following “popular demand”, sustainability rating platform Good On You has launched into the beauty industry claiming to offer the first methodology of its kind.
It also notes that Good On You is expanding “industry-focused solutions for retailers, technology platforms and commercial real estate owners, offering a comprehensive set of sustainability assessment tools to help them credibly engage consumers.”
But back to beauty. To commemorate the publication of the more than 200 initial ratings, it has introduced the Beauty Sustainability Scorecard, with information on how the industry scores on timely sustainability issues.
Its new “rigorous” methodology “evaluates the main environmental, social and animal welfare issues throughout the value chain.” While the new beauty vertical builds on its “extensive experience as the most comprehensive and widely adopted brand sustainability rating system for fashion.”
Sandra Capponi, co-founder of Good On You, said: “From the beginning, [our] Her great ambition has been to use the power of people to create a more sustainable future, in fashion and beyond. And for nearly a decade, we've supported millions of consumers seeking trustworthy sustainability information. As we launch into beauty and expand our tools to help the industry improve, we see a clear opportunity for greater transparency on almost every important topic we've rated brands on.”
Those initial 200+ brand ratings are now available to consumers through the platform's directory and accessible to the retail industry through its updated business dashboard and API.
